FAQ’s of International Mooting Competition
A. Where will the competition take place?
The Mooting competition will take place during Global Exhibitions on Services (GES) to be held on 26-28th November 2019, at Palace Ground, Bengaluru, India. Mooting Competition will be held on 27 -28th November, 2019.
B. What is Global Exhibition on Services (GES) 2019?
GES is an annual flagship event of Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India considered a global platform for increasing trade in services, enhancing strategic cooperation and strengthening multilateral relationships between stakeholders from India and overseas.
Platform for Services Sector industry to interface with world statesmen, business leaders, academia, policy makers and media leaders.
C. Why International Young Lawyers Mooting Competition on IPR?
To strengthen Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) cooperation among the BIMSTEC & CLMV region and to provide opportunities to our young lawyers to network, compete and learn, SEPC in association with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) will organize an International Mooting Competition on “Intellectual Property Rights” during the Global Exhibition on Services (GES) 2019.
Two young lawyers from prominent law firms from each 10 BIMSTEC and CLMV countries will be invited along with senior advocates/partners from these law firms so that they can guide their juniors in the Competition and also hold B2B meetings with their Indian counterparts during GES 2019.
D. Is there any registration fee to take part in the competition?
No, there is no registration fee for taking part in the competition.
E. Will travel and accommodation be provided to the competitors?
Yes. SEPC will fund the two-way economy travel and 2-3 days stay of the competitors and their senior partners during GES 2019.
F. What is the registration process for Mooting Competition and B2B’s registration?
- Invitation will be sent to the companies whose names are suggested by the Embassies for inviting to the competition.

G. What are the Deadlines for the Registration?
All participating teams and Senior Partners shall register themselves by midnight on 15th October 2019.
H. What procedures do we need to follow for e-Visa?

I. When the case will be shared with the contestants?Case will be shared with the confirmed participants shortly.

J. What are the rules for the Mooting Competition?

K. Do teams need to submit written submissions?
Yes. Each team must submit their written submissions by email to us on email@example.com. The last date of submission is 30th October 2019 (midnight). No change in the written submission shall be permitted afterward.
L. Can we change a registered team member?
No. Name of the companies invited are based on the Embassy recommendations. Team members will not be changed once the registration is done on the portal. Participants may request for changing name only before the registration.
M. Can more than one person’s attend the mooting from same organization?
Yes. More than one person may come from the same organization but he/she has to register as a foreign invited delegate for B2B meetings and he may attend the mooting as well.
N. Maximum how many members from one organization can register?
Only one young lawyer can register for the Mooting competition from one organization. Maximum of two from one organization can register for the B2B and business networking in Global Exhibition of Services.
O. How will I come to know about the other member of my team?
SEPC will inform the teams in prior about the other member and companies recommended by the Embassy for the competition. Both Young Lawyers are advised to coordinate with each other to represent a good team.
P. Who will be the judges?
Judges will be current or former members of the judiciary, legal practitioners, legal academics or others with a demonstrated experience in judging the competition.
Q. What happens if any team wins in the International Mooting Competition?
The winning team (only one) and the runner-up team (only one) will get international recognition and will be awarded ‘The Young Lawyers Champion’ Trophies. Other awards, if any, will be announced by the organizers in the beginning of the Mooting Competition.
R. What is the working language during International Mooting competition?
Language for Competition is English only.
S. Is there a dress-code for the competition?
No. Formal and decent clothes preferred.
